EG America has appointed Reid Evans as head of data and AI, Evans announced via LinkedIn on Monday.
Evans will be tasked with spearheading EG’s enterprise data and AI strategy in alignment with the retailer’s business priorities and digital transformation agenda, he noted in his LinkedIn bio. Additionally, he said he’ll help build a culture that accelerates data-driven decision making across all levels of the company, which includes about 1,500 convenience stores in the U.S.
Evans joins EG America from a two-year stint as the head of his own consulting firm. Before that, he worked for technology consulting firm ResultStack, where he was a senior and then principal consultant for over six years, according to his LinkedIn bio. He spent about 15 years working in various programming, engineering and web development roles across several industries earlier in his career.
Evans said in his announcement that he previously worked with the team at EG America as an outside consultant.
“EG America operates across a large and diverse retail footprint, with a data landscape to match,” Reid said. “I’ve worked with the team for several years as an external consultant, and I’m excited to take on a broader role helping shape how data and AI support decision-making at scale.”
Among Evans’ reasons for joining EG America are the company’s vision to place data and AI at the forefront of its transformation, as well as a mission to build “a function that drives real decisions,” he said in his announcement.
Evans’ hiring comes about six months after EG partnered with intelligence management platform Quorso, which consolidates surveys, performance analytics and exception reporting into one platform and uses AI to develop actionable plans and processes for employees.
A spokesperson from EG America did not respond by press time when asked to comment on Evans’ hiring.
