Alphabet, Google's parent company, is the top company to work for in 2017, according to LinkedIn’s official 2017 LinkedIn Top Companies report, released last week.
There are a total of 50 companies on the list, which includes 21 different industries. Amazon, Facebook, Salesforce and Uber rounded out the top five.
LinkedIn generated the list based on interest LinkedIn members show in a company's jobs, a company's brand and employees, and employee retention.
The first seven companies on the list are tech companies. But its innovation, rather than tech, that makes these companies so intriguing. Companies that break new ground have always attracted employees, and today the biggest innovations are happening in tech.
It’s interesting to note that Apple, once considered at the top when it comes to innovation, was only seventh on the list. Demand for refreshing its product portfolio has caused Apple's brand to suffer this year.
In April, Google replaced Apple as the number one most valuable brand, according to the U.S. 500 2017 report from BrandFinance. Apple’s brand value dropped 27% since early 2016 to $107 billion. Experts say Apple has failed to maintain its technological advantage.
