Dive Brief:
- BNY will integrate Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise platform into Eliza, its proprietary agentic AI platform, the two companies said Monday.
- The move will let BNY's employees build agents to automate data analysis use cases such as parsing financial reports and analyzing historical trends, helping them to extract insights more efficiently, according to the announcement.
- “By integrating with Gemini Enterprise, we continue to advance the capabilities embedded into Eliza, deepening the platform's agentic research, integrating data sources more seamlessly and securely and elevating the user experience,” said Sarthak Pattanaik, chief data and AI officer at BNY, in the announcement. “The integration underscores our goal to create capacity for our people to embed deeper analysis and strategic insights, adding value in their everyday delivery for clients.”
Dive Insight:
Financial services firms have been working to deploy AI across operations, funding research to accelerate the technology's maturity. BNY is among the companies aiming to widen employee access to the tools — in search of more productivity.
“Across the company, our people are working together to embed AI solutions into our workflows,” said President and CEO Robin Vince during a Q3 2025 earnings call in October.
The company had 117 AI solutions in production by the end of the third quarter, up 75% from the prior quarter, according to Vince. Use cases include business lead searches, software development, payment processing and other repetitive tasks.
"We are also leveraging agentic AI to deploy digital employees," said Vince. "Over 100 of them are already working side-by-side with our people on tasks such as payment validations and code repairs. We believe our AI opportunity is significant, and we are pursuing it with urgency."
The enterprise push to deploy AI has run into several roadblocks. For example, fewer than half of companies have established governance policies and frameworks, according to a Collibra report. Employee training around governance and compliance also lags behind adoption ambitions, according to the report.
Analyst firm Evident Insights, which tracks AI adoption efforts across 50 leading global banks, in October ranked BNY in the top 10 institutions when it comes to AI transparency. The category monitors how much banks invest in responsible AI use and how their governance frameworks have evolved.
"Our enterprise AI platform, Eliza, offers a single, secure interface for employees to generate actionable intelligence and serves as a single 'pane of glass' for oversight, enabling transparency, auditability, and accountability of data, agents and AI solutions," said a BNY spokesperson in an email to CIO Dive.
Eliza lets employees tap into a centralized hub for AI solutions, access to approved data repositories and a workbench to purpose-build agents, the spokesperson said.
